Amelia Sterling Bones needed fresh air desperately. Inside, the air felt so dry against her throat; it was almost painful. She hadn't been outside all day, and it was affecting her. Amelia couldn't resist the refreshing air that was in the Courtyard; it relaxed her. With a moderately thick book in her grasp she let out a soft sigh. Amelia sat in the Ravenclaw Common Room, which was slowly becoming stuffy. She looked down at her book, thinking. Amelia fashioned a slight pout, which turned into a smile. She decided she wouldn't waste her day sitting in the Common Rooms, but rather outside. She'd take her book along with her too, if she found herself with nothing else to do. As long as she was outside, getting some fresh air, that’s all that mattered to her at the moment.
Amelia pulled herself up from sitting in a cushioned seat, pressing her hands against her dress to flatten out the wrinkles. Satisfied, she ran her fingers through her feathery blonde hair then carried on with walking out of the Ravenclaw Common Room. Amelia's hips swayed lightly as she walked, passing by familiar faces. Almost immediately, when they saw her face, they'd hurry up to her to start a brisk conversation. Then Amelia would excuse herself and carry on. Aside from talking to others, walking by herself felt lonesome. She'd just catch herself staring straight forward, or gazing at the paintings that decorated the walls so nicely. Every once and awhile she'd place her delicate fingers against the bare parts of the walls, feeling the rutted texture. Further away from the Common Rooms, there was quietness. It crept up on her suddenly, after being surrounded by so many people.
Everyone must of been stashed away in their dormitories, or even snacking in the Great Hall. She didn't know, she was merely guessing. Amelia coughed, trying not to feel so alone. The cough came out shaky and imperfect, but she decided it passed as a cough for that moment at least. Finally, she felt a rush of cool air embrace her cheeks. After that long walk just to reach the Courtyard, she was delighted to be at her destination. Amelia didn't realize how many flights of stairs she had to walk down to actually get to the first floor, but she didn't mind. The walk was worth it, even if it was very quiet. As she pressed further into the Courtyard she was greeted by.. Pavement. She knew the Courtyard was paved, but it seemed too dull and lifeless. Letting out another soft sigh, she continued walking; her footsteps slightly louder. The air was pleasant, with a hint of coldness. Amelia's blue-green eyes scanned the area, searching for a place to sit. A smile formed on her lips once she found a small bench, fit for two or three people.
Amelia slowly walked over, and then placed herself down on the bench. It was cold, but she ignored that. She glanced around for a moment, finding herself alone. The silence was eerie, just as it was in the hallways. Amelia propped open her book, her eyes taking in all the delicate words. All she could do was continue to read, hoping someone would come along to break the silence. .
